The Military Band of the Black Sea Navy was formed in 1947 in Sevastopol. Since the moment of its inception it’s been engaged in providing music support during official visits of the Black Sea Navy ships to the countries of the Mediterranean region.
The band provided music support at the meeting of the Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev with his American counterpart George Bush on Malta in 1989. In 2007 in Sardinia in Italy it performed at the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
Despite the collapse of the Soviet Union and division of the Black Sea Navy units between Russia and Ukraine, military musicians remained faithful to the oath and managed to keep the band intact.
Being the trademark of the Black Sea Navy of the Russian Federation the band opened the Festival of the Russian Culture in Cannes (France), dazzled with its skills the audiences from Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Syria, Egypt, Tunis, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Montenegro.
It was a huge success at the international military bands festivals in Albertville and Nice and at the War and Peace International Festival in Sevastopol (2010, 2011).
