The Military Band (of the Moscow garrison) of the 154 Preobrazhensky Regiment is a large professional musical ensemble that regularly gives concerts. It was established in 2011.
As the central military band of Moscow, the group supports key events and official ceremonies of the highest level with participation of the Mayor of Moscow and city government. The band participates in all military parades of the Moscow Garrison Forces on Red Square, and also performs at international festivals and competitions of military wind bands.
The team was formed on 1 June 2011 on the basis of the 13 Military Orchestra (of the Military District Headquarters), which was formed back in 1940. At that time, on the basis of the orchestra of the 6th motorized rifle regiment the Exemplary Band was established. The pride of the band was its participation in the historical parade of 7 November 1941 and the Victory Parade of 24 June 1945. The band’s musicians also took part in the XXII Summer Olympic Games, the International Festival of Youth and Students, and celebrations related to the 850th anniversary of Moscow. In 1995, at the request of the Government of Moscow, the band recorded the Anthem of Russia.
