Years and time-wise, the Girl Drummer Band of the All-Girl Boarding School of the Russian Ministry of Defense can be named the sibling of the Spassakaya Tower International Military Music Festival. Seventeen years ago, on September 1 of 2008, Russia’s Ministry of Defense opened a unique educational institution for girls only, widely known as the All-Girls Boarding School. That day was also marked by another milestone event as the first girl students solemnly received the drums, and thus the story of the ensemble has begun. The Drummer Band has quickly paved its way to the top, literally becoming the school’s icon. The ensemble never misses a single significant event held within the walls of the boarding school or in the capital city.

The Girls Drummers Band has also the honor of being among the regular participants of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo.
