The Abu Dhabi Police Brass Band was formed in 1963, six years before than the actual establishment of the UAE (1969). Featuring 50 musicians then, it was the first wind band of the Abu Dhabi emirate. Strong belief that military training should go hand in hand with cultural development paved the way to the ensemble formation. Thus, following this valuable idea, the Abu Dhabi Police Band has always been moving forward, introducing new instruments, enlarging the number of its participants, and improving their professional skills.
The present ensemble includes 173 members.
In 2003 the Abu Dhabi Police Brass Band took part in the Bremen Musikfest along with the artists from Brazil, Argentina, Spain, USA, etc. Besides, it was the only band representing Arabic countries at the festival.
