First Special Police Regiment of the Main Department of the Russian Ministry of Interior for the City of Moscow
Founded back in 1731, the Mounted Police of Moscow has seen numerous name changes along its history. Today the unit is known as the First Special Police Regiment of the Main Department of the Russian Ministry of Interior for the City of Moscow. The regiment's main task is to keeping law and order in the course of mass and special events held in the capital as well as in the city parks and gardens. Since 2014 members of the Moscow Mounted Police have taken part in the special Horse Day carried out onstage of the Spasskaya Tower horse riding arena. Riding horses of the Orlov trotting breed, they demonstrate various horse riding drills as well as cavalry saber handling skills.
