This Saturday, June 15, Muzeon Park of Moscow will open its gates for the Band of the Military University of the Russian Ministry of Defense, permanent participant of the Military Bands in the City Parks project. Led by Lieutenant Colonel Filip Samonin, they will kick off at 5 p.m. near the dry fountain on Krymskaya Embankment.
With dignity and pride the Band of the Military University of the Russian Ministry of Defense has been augmenting and honoring glorious traditions of its predecessors over the last 80 years. The band has the honor to annually take part in military parades on Red Square dedicated to the Victory day and to the legendary parade of November 7, 1941.
But military musicians never lie on oars, continuously improving their skills and enlarging the repertoire. They are frequent guests at Moscow’s best concert venues, featuring among others the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Central Academic Theatre of the Russian Army, and Cultural Center of the Air Force of the Russian Federation.
The Military Bands in the City Parks is an annual project carried out by the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival with the support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Moscow’s Department of Culture.
Due to the huge popularity of the project the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower Festival has decided to award all the fans of wind music with an amazing present. This Saturday Moscow’s park and gardens will host not one but as many as two performances. Led by Colonel Evgeniy Nikitin, the President’s Band of the of the Service of Moscow Kremlin’s Commandant of the Russian Federal Guard Service will stage a concert at the Alexander Garden, right beneath the Kremlin walls, starting at 3 p.m.
