That evening witnesses of the sieged Leningrad city, veterans and military staff of the National Guard Forces attending the famous building on Senatskaya Square were not just good listeners. Conducted by Colonel Vladimir Vasyak, Head of the Military Band Music Service — Chief Military Conductor of the Russian National Guard Forces and Honored Artist of Russia, the Exemplary Band is regarded one of the best military music and artistic ensembles of the Russian Federation. Formed in 1956 the band pursues large educational activities and actively participates in the patriotic upbringing of the younger generation.
