The Central Military Band Scored Full House in the Ermitazh Garden

Go back

On this wonderful and sunny Saturday, June 16, the open-air Summer Stage of the Ermitazh Garden became a concert venue for all the fans and admirers of wind music. The leading artistic group of the Military Band Service of the Russian Armed Forces and one of the most known orchestras in the world — the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation performed in front of hundreds of viewers within the “Military Bands in the Parks” program.

The march “Triumph of Winners” opened the concert program. Right away the musicians headed by the band’s conductor Lieutenant Colonel Konstantin Petrovich captured the hearts of the viewers. With admiration they were watching the band playing. Many of them couldn’t hold back and went on dancing — representatives of different generations found themselves waltzing around onstage of the Summer Stage of the Ermitazh Garden. Children were not lagging behind. They in their own manner tried to follow up with the adults copying waltz, tango and foxtrot motions.

During the concert the Central Military Band performed music created by different composers as well as old marches and modern composition. They didn’t leave out popular music pieces from the Soviet movies.

“We won’t announce the next composition because everyone knows it. It has long become popular and gained love of the people. The author of it is our great friend, the Hero of Socialist Labor, the People’s Artist of the Soviet Union Alexandra Pakhmutova. She is a very frequent guest of our band and together with our wind and symphonic groups she holds her artistic evenings”, said the band’s conductor before performing the soundtrack of the movie “Devchata” (“The Girls”) named “Khoroshie Devchata” (“Good Girls”). The viewers immediately recognized the song and enthusiastically started singing along.

For more than an hour the band entertained the admirers of wind music and the dancers tirelessly waltzed around following the swirl of music. Many of them are the participants of the “Moscow Longevity” program carried out by Cultural Centers of the Department of Culture of the City of Moscow. Anyone willing can apply and become part of the program.

“Thanks for your warm welcome and your applause. I hope that you’ve enjoyed the program that we prepared for today’s concert and you’ve danced enough. We are looking forward to see you attending other venues of our program and the „Spasskaya Tower“ Festival which for the eleventh time in a row is going to be held in Moscow from August 24 to September 2. The venue is as always unchangeable — Red Square”, thanked the viewers Konstantin Petrovich.

The members of the Central Military Band adjourned their performance with the march “Farewell of Slavianka”.

The “Military Bands in the Parks” program aims to revive old and beautiful tradition of military bands performing in parks and gardens of the city. The program is being organized by the Directorate of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” with the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Government of Moscow.

The next concert of the “Military Bands in the Parks” program is going to be held Saturday, June 23. The Military Band (of the Moscow Harrison) of the 154 Preobrazhensky Regiment is going to perform in Perovskiy Park. The concert begins at 5 p.m. Entrance is free!
