An unusual concert was held today, June 29, at 1 p.m. near the Italian grotto in the Alexander Garden. The Muscovites and guests of the capital among which there were a lot of football fans witnessed the concert staged by the permanent participant of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” the President’s Band of the Service of the Moscow Kremlin’s Commandant of the Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation.

One shouldn’t doubt that the band’s concert program was dedicated to the major summer event being held in Russia — the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

“Our today’s performance has been directly related to the major event that is being held in our country right now. The whole concert program bore musical shades of the countries participants of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Once again emotions of our viewers among which there were guests of the capital and football fans proved that music has no borders and language differences, music unites nations”, told the conductor of the President’s Band of the Service of the Moscow Kremlin’s Commandant of the Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Colonel Evgeniy Nikitin.

The concert was launched with a football signal which was followed by the well-known “Football March” written by Matvei Blanter.

The first “concert period” was marked by European compositions as well as by the famous song “Besame Mucho” of Consuelo Velazquez. For the fans from Uruguay and Argentina the band performed the tango “La Cumparsita” which was followed by the vigorous “Tsyganochka” (“Gipsy Girl”).

The second “concert period” started with salutation of Brazilian fans — the band performed “Brazilian Sambo” and after that everybody with no exclusion sang the popular Soviet song “Katusha”.

“We couldn’t have failed to include in our “football band” concert the song about the hospitable host of the World Cup and thus performed song about Moscow written by Ariak Babadjanyan “The Best City on Earth”, noted Evgeniy Nikitin.

The concert in the Alexander Garden was adjourned by the march “Farewell of Slavianka” symbolizing the specific way of saying goodbye but just for a while — before meeting the new day and new surprises which await all the guests of the hospitable Moscow.
