The Band of the 154 Preobrazhensky Regiment Scored Full House in Moscow’s Sokolniki Park

Incredibly hot and sunny, this summer in Moscow is drawing thousands of Muscovites and guests of the capital into the shadow of city parks and gardens. And as many years ago they are full of sounds of beautiful music. Last Saturday evening in Sokolniki Park was marked by the beautiful performance of the Band of the 154 Preobrazhensky Regiment, one of the best military bands of the Russian Armed Forces and permanent participant of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo.

Led by Captain Oleg Tyshuk, the band tried to predict and accommodate music tastes and interests of everyone present, performing various Russian and foreign music pieces of different styles and epochs. Besame Mucho by Consuelo Velázquez, Hello Dolly by Jerry Herman, Hit the Road Jack by ‎Percy Mayfield, hits by ABBA, Victor Tsoi and Valery Sutkin were just some of the compositions performed by the ensemble that day. Thundering ovations and numerous bravos accompanied the artists throughout the concert, carried out within the Military Bands in the City Parks.

The Military Bands in the City Parks a unique program carried out by the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival with the support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Moscow’s Department of Culture.

It offers Muscovites and guests of the capital an opportunity to listen to some of the best military bands of the Russian Armed Forces, Emergency Ministry, National Guard Forces, Federal Security Service and Federal Guard Service. Throughout the summer sounds of classical, popular, jazz and rock music will fill in the air of Moscow. This year military musicians will stage 16 concerts in 14 capital’s parks and gardens.
