Today, August 30, another evening show of the Eleventh Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival was held on Red Square to the delight of the public.
This time the show featured performance of the world opera star People’s Artist of Russia Hibla Gerzmava and the Mongolian baritone Honored Artist of the Buryatia Republic Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar. Accompanied by the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in a duet they sang the Podmoskovnie Vecherasong. It has been the only performance of Hibla Gerzmava and Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar on the Festival. The public supported the artists with their smartphones flashlights.
Prior the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation performed potpourri on Russian folk and popular Soviet songs. Their program musicians began with a bit a humor singing together a song about the current political situation.
The combined band uniting all the bands participating in the Festival under the lead of Colonel Timofey Mayakin, Head of the Military Music Band Service of the Russian Armed Forces – Chief Military Conductor and Music Director of the Spasskaya Tower Festival performed at the grand finale of the third show. Musicians performed the Officers’ Ball potpourri of well-known Russian and foreign composers, including Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Dunaevsky, Sviridov, Frenkel, Nikitin, Strauss and others. The final accord adjourning the show was Tchaikovsky Overture “1812”. As usual the show finished with grandiose fireworks.
Among this evening’s guests of honor there were Major General of the Republican Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ermek Ukibaev; Colonel Armen Pogosyan, Head of the Military Music Band Service of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces and Chief Military Conductor; Mr. Lassi Ikäheimo, artistic director of the Finland’s Hamina Tattoo Military Music Festival; Mr. Hannu Kaukiainen, director of the Hamina Tattoo; Mr. Sami Ruzovori, Chief Conductor of the Helsinki Police; Mr. Johannesen Christer Olav, Colonel, leader of Norway’s military bands and one of the founders of the Military Music Festival in the country; as well as representatives of the Japan Youth Board and Asia Pacific Wind Bands Association.

Hibla Gerzmava has become internationally acknowledged performing at the stages of the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in London, Metropolitan Opera, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma in Rome, the Opéra National de Paris in Paris, the Wiener Staatsoper in Vienna and onstage other world’s famous concert venues.
Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar is the leading singer of the Opera and Ballet State Academic Theatre of the Buryatia Republic. In 2015 he won the first prize of the Gran Prix of the Fifteenth International Tchaikovsky Competition and was awarded the title of the Honored Artist of the Buryatia Republic. Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar is the owner of a very intense, rich and beautiful tone quality.
