The 2025 Spasskaya Tower Festival Reached Moscow’s VDNH

Go back

This Saturday, August 23, participants of the Seventeenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival performed in Moscow’s VDNH to greet all the guests and residents of Russia’s gorgeous capital. Building a bridge between the continents, the Spasskaya Tower Festival parade showcased vibrant hues of Africa, rhythmic precision of Europe, lyric melodies of the Middle east, endless beauty of the Asian prairies as well as the heartfelt songs of Russia.

Two hours of music and vivid dances showcased all the national colors and vibes of the tattoo participants who had traveled to Moscow from Belarus, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, the UAE, the Republika Srpska and Ethiopia. The performance unfolded on the esplanade beneath the VDNH main entrance and all the way down to the Peoples’ Friendship Fountain. With crowds gathering to listen and support the artists, all the viewers expressed their admiration for the show, noting that it made their weekend happier.

Russia was represented by the Military Band of the Felix Dzerzhinskiy Division of the National Guard Forces and the Military Band of the 1st Army of the Air Defense and Anti-Missile Defense Forces of Russia. The latter decided to dazzle the audiences with a medley composed exclusively of songs dedicated to the skies and the courageous profession of piloting. The performance was a hit, with the crowds singing and dancing, and sounds of standing ovations heard far and wide.

“It’s a great honor for us to be part of the Spasskaya Tower Festival which unites some of the best military and artistic teams from Russia and all over the world”, shared his impressions Major Pavel Zyabletsev, Head of the Band.

Representing Belarus and its Armed Forces, the Exemplary Band received a warm welcome from the Russian people. Crowds were happy to feel a little bit nostalgic when they heard melodies of the Great Patriotic War.

Natalia from Moscow shared that she was extremely fortunate to have had an opportunity to witness such an exceptional performance, as she had never anticipated such an experience.

Another highlight of the day was the performance of the Band of the Sharjah Police Science Academy who performed a lot of songs originating in Russia, including the world-famous Russian Smuglyanka and Katusha.

Meanwhile, musicians from Kazakhstan and the Republik of Srpska opted for some vivid jazz melodies.

It was the Spasskaya Tower Festival’s guests from Italy that added some Renaissance spirit to the modern VDNH space. Members of the Historic Flag-Wavers of the Contrade of Cori showed the graceful and elegant art of twirling, throwing, tossing, and rotating the flags, defying the laws of physics.

The Russian iconic The Victory Day melody sounded completely different when performed by the Mongolian Military Song and Dance Academic Ensemble, showing off all their unique artistic skills, style and talent, for sure.

The Presidential Orchestra of Burkina Faso, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Band and the Ethiopian National Defense Forces Marching Band also wowed the audiences with their vibrant dances and flowy tunes, encompassing everyone in the atmosphere of joy and happiness.

In 2025, the Spasskaya Tower Festival will unfold on Moscow’s Red Square between August 22 and 31. The tattoo’s overwhelming production enjoys the unwavering organizational and/or financial support of the Russian Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, and Moscow Government Department of Culture.
