Two Ensembles, Two Conductors and One Shared Passion for Music on Stage Moscow’s Mitino Park

This Sunday, July 27, the ninth season of the Military Bands in the City Parks is looking forward to hosting the Combined Band of the 100th Separate Support Regiment and the 15th Guards Motorized Rifle Shavlinsky Regiment of the Guards Taman Division. Songs about love, loyalty and friendship, as well as honoring the memory of the Great Patriotic War will engulf Moscow’s Mitino Park with its picturesque ponds and lanes of centuries-old trees.

As many as two young and very talented conductors will be on the helm of the ensemble. Taking turns, Lieutenant of the Guard Artyom Yakunin and Senior Lieutenant Ilya Filatov will wow the audiences with a stunning program, proving that military musicians can be bold, outrageous and out-of-the-box.

With music and dancing, the concert will become a genuine spectacle. The soulful rhythms of the war-years songs, inviting sounds of waltzes and tangos, as well as upbeat sounds of jazz and popular compositions will get everyone both moved and moving.

Joining their hands in 2019, the Combined Band of the 100th Separate Support Regiment and the 15th Guards Motorized Rifle Shavlinsky Regiment of the Guards Taman Division is the leading military ensemble of the Alabino military garrison. Bringing together an array of outstanding professionals, the military ensemble has always been stepping out of the box and performing a wide variety of music genres, with Sunday’s concert being a proof.

Hence, we are looking forward to meeting you all this Sunday, July 27, at 4 pm (16:00) in Moscow’s Mitino Park and witnessing what the Alabino military garrison musicians have best to offer. Entrance is free.

With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower Tattoo continues its efforts to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past featuring military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic open air sites of Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and now the City of Pskov as well. The project, in essence, is a series of concerts staged by bands representing Russia’s military and law enforcement agencies, paving the way for the main events of the Spasskaya Tower Festival.

In 2025, Moscow will welcome the seventeenth run of the Festival that will unfold on Red Square between August 22 and 31. Bringing together over 1500 artists from all corners of the globe, the Festival will honor the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and pay tribute to all those valiantly defending their nations.
