The Military Bands in the City Parks’ Moving On, Welcoming the Ensemble of the Russian National Guard Forces

Go back

This Saturday, July 19, the Military Bands in the City Parks project will treat its admirers to another spectacular performance. Moscow’s Vorontsovskiy Park will give the floor for the Military Band of the 5129 Military Unit of the Central District of the National Guard Forces. Sounds of graceful waltzes, beautiful love songs and hilarious hits about Moscow, the best city on Earth, will fly over the park’s shadowy lanes.

With Lieutenant Colonel Pavel Pogorelov in charge, the band has prepared an amazing program filling it with renowned classics and popular hits. Kicking off with some iconic military marches, including the world famous Amur Waves composition, musicians then will move forward to some lively and heart-warming pieces, including, inter alia, the sparkling medley of the greatest hits about Moscow.

Formed in 1966, the Military Band of 5129 Military Unit of the Central District of the National Guard Forces is actively engaged in the service’s everyday life and may be regularly spotted among the participants of major cultural events of Moscow and its environs.

The 5129 Military Unit ensemble enters the pool of permanent participants of the Victory Parade on Red Square, as well as of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo.

Thus, we are looking forward to meeting you all this Saturday, July 19, at 4 pm (16:00) in Moscow’s Vorontsovskiy Park. Entrance is free.

With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Organizing Committee of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo continues its efforts to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past featuring military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic open air sites of Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and now the City of Pskov as well.

The project, in essence, is a series of concerts staged by bands representing Russia’s military and law enforcement agencies, paving the way for the main events of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo.

In 2025, Moscow will welcome the seventeenth run of the Festival that will unfold on Red Square between August 22 and 31. Bringing together over 1500 artists from all corners of the globe, the Festival will honor the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and pay tribute to all those valiantly defending their nations.
