The Military Bands in the City Parks Project Will Make its Debut in Pskov

Go back

This Sunday, July 6, the 60 Years of October Park in Pskov will welcome a debut performance of the Military Bands in the City Parks. This time it will be the turn of the Military Band of the 104th Guards Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Guards Air Assault Division of Russian Airborne Forces to wow the audiences with quality music and positive vibes. This music endeavor, which has already established a cherished tradition in Moscow, and in Saint Petersburg since last year, will now be conquering a new city.

With Captain of the Guard Evgeniy Baranchikov on the helm, the ensemble has prepared a special performance aimed at proving that military musicians can really step out of the box. Military marches and flowy waltzes, popular songs and all-time hits will flow over the lanes of the 60 Years of October Park in Pskov.

As for the band, it plays an important role in the city’s cultural life, accompanying all military ceremonies at the city, regiment and harrison levels. The ensemble’s line-up is made up of active duty military personnel. When undergoing airborne training, they have jumped from An-2 and Il-76 aircrafts and Mi-8 helicopters. They took part in different peacekeeping missions and served in Yugoslavia, Chechnya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Georgia and Abkhazia. The band’s musicians have performed in Syria and now frequently visit the Special Military Operation zone with concerts. Many of them have been awarded medals.

In 2019 and 2024, the band became prize-winners of the prestigious military contest and competition among the ensembles representing the Russian Armed Forces. Musicians may also be spotted among the permanent participants of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo.

It’s been nine years of continuous efforts undertaken by the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past, with military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic sites of the city. Along the way the project has been enjoying the unwavering support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Government of Moscow.

As such, throughout the summer, enchanting wind melodies now engulf parks and gardens in both Russian capitals, paving the way for the Seventeenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo that will unfold on Moscow’s Red Square between August 22 to 31. Bringing together over 1500 artists from all corners of the globe, the Festival will honor the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and pay tribute to all those valiantly defending their nations.
