Songs Praising Great Victory and Unquailing Resolve Will Mark the Weekend in Moscow’s Khodynskoe Pole Park

Go back

The Military Bands in the City Parks carries on with its weekend music marathon, and now it’s time for Moscow’s Khodynskoe Pole Park to welcome the Military Band of the Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Ground Forces “Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation”. This Saturday, July 5, musicians will treat all the visitors to a gleeful assembly of pieces dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War Victory.

Led by Lieutenant Colonel Sergey Kolesnikov, the ensemble has prepared a program that includes the most famous compositions that honor the great feast of the Defenders of the Motherland and reflect the years of war that Soviet people had to endure. Sounds of sparkling Rio Rita paso doble, heart-rending Dark is the Night song, lively Smuglyanka and thundering Victory Day compositions, as well as of many others pieces will engulf the park lanes.

It’s been nine years of continuous efforts undertaken by the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past, with military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic sites of the city. Along the way the project has been enjoying the unwavering support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Government of Moscow. Last year, the Military Bands in the City Parks expanded its horizons, going as far as St Petersburg.

As such, throughout the summer, enchanting wind melodies now engulf parks and gardens in both Russian capitals, paving the way for the Seventeenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo that will unfold on Moscow’s Red Square between August 22 to 31. Bringing together over 1500 artists from all corners of the globe, the Festival will honor the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and pay tribute to all those valiantly defending their nations.
