Moscow’s State Historical Museum Hosted the 2024 Spasskaya Tower Festival Press Conference

On Wednesday, August 21, the State Historical Museum opened its door to media representatives from Russia and abroad to the press conference of the Sixteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo.

The event included participation of both the Festival’s organizers and its participants.

Mr Sergey Khlebnikov, Artistic Director of the Spasskaya Tower Military Tattoo, emphasized that despite the Festival being themed annually to commemorate significant historical and military events in Russia’s history, it was decided not to identify any particular occasion this time. Instead, the tattoo would pay tribute to all of Russia’s glorious feats and valiant defenders, as read in the 2024 maxim, Tribute to the Defenders of the Motherland.

Major General Timofey Mayakin, Music Director of the Festival and Head of the Band Military Service of the Russian Armed Forces, talked about the cast and everyone involved in the 2024 Festival run. This time, the cobblestones of Red Square would be welcoming talents from far and wide, including Belarus, China, Guinea, Egypt, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey and Venezuela. He thanked all the performers for their participation in this outstanding celebration of arts and music, which aimed to foster unity and friendship.

The floor was then given to Mr Sergey Smirnov, Head of the Spasskaya Tower Festival Directorate. Following in the footsteps of his colleagues, he expressed gratitude to all the participants, organizers and guests of the 2024 tattoo run, particularly to the sponsors with whom lasting friendships had already been established. Rostec State Corporation, Rosoboronexport, Transneft, Fosagro and many other long-term partners have always supported the Spasskaya Tower Festival that celebrates national and international militaries and cultures. Mr Smirnov also expressed his appreciation to the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiative, whose support has become an indispensable part of the tattoo's leading and side events.

Mr Alexey Levykin, Director of the State Historic Music and a great friend of the Festival, said the museum and its team were happy to support this spectacular display of arts and joy, and wished everyone a great time.

Scale, audience and impact wise, the Spasskaya Tower Festival has no par, every year being recognized as the most prominent international cultural event in Russia, as well as being ranked among the world’s best top three military tattoos. In 2024, audiences will be treated to ten spectacular showtimes featuring some of the country and world’s best military music and creative ensembles as well as honor guard units.

In 2023, the Spasskaya Tower Festival won the second grant contest from the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.

It’s being carried out following the Order of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, under the aegis of the Public Council headed by Mr. Alexander Zhukov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and enjoying the long-standing support of the Russian MoD, MFA and Moscow’s Department of Culture.

Tickets for the Tattoo are available via the Festival official website (www.spasstower.ru) and the Festival’s ticket office on Red Square at the intersection with Il’inka street. The ticket office is open daily, from 11 am to 8 pm on Mondays through Fridays, and from 12 am to 9 pm on weekends.
