Discovering further the lineup of the 2024 Spasskaya Tower Festival, let’s meet the Great Military Band of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces “Supreme Commander Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias”. All the way from Venezuela, musicians will bring along vivid colors, vibrant music and a plethora of national customs. Various music genres, unique folk rhythms and melodies will tell us about the milestones both of Venezuela and its armed forces.
Always intertwined with the National Bolivarian Armed Forces, music and military musicians have been an indispensable part of the country’s army culture. Therefore, in 2019, the Venezuelan Minister of Defense Vladimir Padrino Lopez initiated the formation of the Great Military Band of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela “Supreme Commander Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias”. Today, the ensemble is made up of carefully selected and outstandingly talented musicians representing both the Venezuelan military and law enforcement.
The Venezuelan military band is actively involved in covering state official and protocol events, as well as shaping the international image of the nation.
This marks the second time that the Great Military Band of the Venezuelan Armed Forces will participate in the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo, with the debut happening two years ago, in 2022. Considering the Spasskaya Tower Festival’s large scale and international significance, Venezuelan national leader President Nicolas Maduro sanctioned the ensemble’s participation. Hitting the cobblestones of Red Square musicians will present Venezuelan traditional melodies, rhythms and folk genres to their audiences.
