The Military Bands in the City Parks in Saint Petersburg Is Moving On, Welcoming the Ensemble of the Peter the Great Naval Corps

Go back

This Sunday, August 18, the Alexander Garden of Saint Petersburg will welcome another round of the Military Bands in the City Parks project. The Band of the Peter the Great Naval Corps will wow the audiences with an outstanding program paying tribute to great Russian composers.

Sounds of the world-renowned classics will give way to popular songs and movie scores paying tribute to Russia’s glorious past, including major naval victories.

One of the oldest military ensembles of Russia, the Band of the Peter the Great Naval Corps tracks its history down to the mid-18th century. Nowadays the ensemble is regarded as a huge asset to the educational activities carried out within the corps safeguarding and expanding military music traditions. Musicians are actively engaged in various cultural events, and regularly take part in military parades.

We are looking forward to meeting you at the Alexander Garden at 2 pm (14:00) and enjoying some genuinely good music together. Entrance is free.

The Military Bands in the City Parks became winner of the 2024 Grant Competition by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, giving the project an opportunity to step out of its traditional boundaries. Up to late September, military wind bands will stage as many as 22 concerts in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
