This Sunday, August 11, we are looking forward to meeting all the guests and residents of Saint Petersburg at ‘My Petersburg’ exhibition to spend another beautiful music weekend together. This time, joining the cast of the 2024 Military Bands in the City Parks, will be the Band of the Military Naval Engineering College.
Led by Major Yuriy Lepilin, the musicians will showcase a program focused on some of the best samples of Russian classical, military, traditional and popular music.
The ensemble saw light on April 8, 1948 when the Second Leningrad High Naval Engineering College was established. Preserving the glorious traditions of their predecessors, boosting camaraderie and morale as well as taking part in the college’s everyday activities are among the musicians top priorities. They are also actively engaged in various cultural events and music contests. The ensemble can frequently be spotted among the participants of military parades celebrating the Great Patriotic Victory on Moscow’s Red Square and Saint Petersburg Palace Square, and paying tribute to the superb Russian Navy.
Visit us at ‘My Petersburg’ exhibition and let’s enjoy some genuinely good music together. Entrance is free.
With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, Government of Saint Petersburg and the city governor Alexander Beglov, the Organizing Committee of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo continues its efforts to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past, with military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic spots in Saint Petersburg, Moscow and its environs.
Up to late September, military wind bands will stage as many as 11 concerts in Saint Petersburg.
Throughout the summer, enchanting wind melodies will engulf parks and gardens, paving the way for the Sixteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo that will unfold on Red Square from August 23 to September 1.
