Moscow’s Kuzminki Park Welcomed the Combined Band of the Alabino Garrison

Go back

This Sunday, July 28, the eighth season of the Military Bands in the City Parks once again welcomed the Combined Band of the 100th Separate Support Regiment and the 15th Guards Motorized Rifle Shavlinsky Regiment of the Guards Taman Division. Songs about love, loyalty and friendship, as well as honoring the memory of the Great Patriotic War engulfed Moscow’s Kuzminki Park with its picturesque ponds and lanes of centuries-old trees.

Bringing together an array of outstanding professionals, the military ensemble has always been stepping out of the box and performing a wide variety of music genres, with Sunday’s concert being a proof.

Starting off with the upbeat Alvamar overture by James Barns, musicians then invited the audiences to embark on a lyrical journey. They performed the romantic Blue Headkerchief piece, and soulful ‘Alla Tango’, a flute piece by Valeriy Saparov.

And of course, the younger guests were taken on board as the ensemble infused their performance with several all-time popular children’s animated movie soundtracks.

With music and dancing, the concert was just spectacular. The soulful rhythms of the war-years songs, inviting sounds of waltzes and tangos, as well as upbeat sounds of jazz and popular compositions got everyone both moved and moving. The audience gave the artists deserved standing ovations and numerous Bravo screams at the end.

With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Moscow’s Government Department of Culture, the Organizing Committee of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo continues its efforts to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past, with military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic spots in Moscow and its environs. Throughout the summer, enchanting wind melodies will engulf parks and gardens, paving the way for the Sixteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo that will unfold on Red Square from August 23 to September 1.

The Military Bands in the City Parks became winner of the 2024 Grant Competition by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, giving the project an opportunity to step out of its traditional boundaries. Now, not only Moscow, but also Saint Petersburg will have a chance to witness some of the best music ensembles of the Russian Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies.

Up to late September, military wind bands will stage as many as 22 concerts in both cities.
