This Saturday, July 13, Moscow welcomed another concert of the Military Bands in the City Parks, but this time fully enjoying the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives. The Combined Band of the 100th Separate Support Regiment and the 15th Guards Motorized Rifle Shavlinsky Regiment of the Guards Taman Division performed in Krasnaya or Red Presnya Park, one of the most picturesque and beautiful recreation spots of the Russian capital.
With Guard Captain Evgeniy Kuznetsov and Lieutenant Ilya Filatov on the ensemble’s helm, musicians presented the audiences an outstanding medley of compositions dedicated to family, love and friendship. Their performance turned out to be the ultimate expression of the most beautiful and bright feelings. Songs about the Great Patriotic War added that special sweet sorrow tone to the performance, while vibrant melodies about Moscow got everyone moving.
“We live in Russia, the most beautiful, powerful and greatest country. We do have a plethora of things to be proud of — from our history and traditions to people and their victories. Thus, it’s our duty as a military ensemble to translate these values and glory through music. No wonder we finished today’s performance with a piece called “Forever Great Country”, said Guard Captain Evgeniy Kuznetsov.
All the guests visiting the park that day didn’t hesitate expressing their genuine emotions of joy and admiration, truly appreciating the opportunity of listening to good and quality music.
“What a pleasure to see that projects like Military Bands in the City Parks enjoy support of the government and arouse an extensively wide interest among the audiences. Winning the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives grant has helped the project to step out of its traditional boundaries, and go as far as Saint Petersburg”, noted Lieutenant Ilya Filatov. “But we need to grow bigger. All over Russia such patriotic and socially relevant initiatives are in great demand, especially against the difficult times we are going through”.
With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Government of Moscow, and the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, the Organizing Committee of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo continues its efforts to revive one of the most charming traditions of the past, with military bands performing in parks and gardens, streets and alleys, and other iconic spots in Moscow and its environs.
In 2024, the Military Bands in the City Parks became winner of the second Grant Competition by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, giving the project an opportunity to step out of its traditional boundaries. Now, not only Moscow, but also Saint Petersburg will have a chance to witness some of the best music ensembles of the Russian Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies. Up to late September, military wind bands will stage as many as 22 concerts in both cities.
