The Military Bands in the City Parks project is up and running, with the eighth season reaching its high point. This weekend, June 29 and 30, both loyal friends of the project and admirers of good wind music will have an encounter with some of the best music ensembles of the Russian Armed Forces. Five military bands will perform onstage in Moscow’s open-air venues in parks and gardens.
On Saturday, June 29, we are looking forward to meeting you in Mitino park. Start your weekend with a boost of positive vibes, good emotions and vibrant music together with the 21st Military Band of the Moscow Military District Headquarters. The band is a perfectly assembled selection of high-end professionals who carry on the glorious traditions of their predecessors, the Exemplary Band of the 6th Motorized Rifle Regiment formed back in 1940, and the Military Band of the 154 Preobrazhensky Regiment organized on June 1, 2011. On March 1, 2024 following several administrative and structural reshuffles the Moscow Military District was once again brought to map, and as a result the ensemble was born. The ensemble still focuses primarily on performing ceremonial duties, and accompanying all high-level state and official events.
Later that day we also invite you to visit Moscow’s Angarskie Prudy (or Ponds) park and enjoy time-tested classics and vibrant songs with the Military Band of the Central Orsha-Khingan District of the National Guard Forces of Russia (awarded Orders of Zhukov and Red Banner). The band, which was founded in 1923, is widely regarded as one of the oldest military music ensembles in Russia. Its conductor was Max Kyuss, a prominent Russian and Soviet musician and author who composed the world-famous Amur Waves waltz. Led by Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Abdulaev and Major Arslan Ryskulov, the ensemble aims at enriching Russia’s vast music and wind-based heritage.
Finally, the Saturday’s music marathon will reach the North West part of the city where you have an encounter marked with the Band of the Moscow Higher Military Command College. Classical music pieces and popular melodies will stir up positive vibes and provide for a very lively atmosphere in Moscow’s Babushkinskiy park. Renowned music ensemble with a plethora of deep-rooted traditions, the Band of the Moscow Higher Military Command College focuses on performing ceremonial duties, including military personnel reviews and honor guard mount, and taking part in various military solemn occasions.
Moving on to another day full of great music performed by high-end professionals. On Sunday, June 30, the Military Bands in the City Parks project will reach Moscow’s Lianozovo and Khodynskoe Pole parks where you will have a chance to enjoy brilliant performances by the Military Band of the Central Military Commandant’s Office (supporting activities of the National Guard Forces of Russia) and the Military Band of the Military Research and Educational Center of the Russian Army, respectively. Good friends and long-standing participants of the project, the ensemble are renowned for their outstanding artistry, rich music traditions and outstanding professionalism.
All the musicians are looking forward to meeting you this weekend and making your day even shiner and brighter.
