The Square in front of Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour Hosted the Solemn Swear-in Ceremony of the Moscow Military Music College

Following a long-standing tradition, on September 1, the newly admitted students of the Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov Moscow Military Music College went through the Suvorov cadet swearing-in ceremony. The young musicians of the college usually take part in the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival, always taking away the hearts and minds of the audience.

This year, 50 young guys who had decided to associate their lives with the world of music, took a solemn oath that is as important as the military oath taken by military personnel, thereby becoming the first-year students of the Moscow Military Music College.

Then, Major General Timofey Mayakin, Head of the Military Band Service of the Russian Armed Forces—Chief Military Conductor, greeted the young Suvorov cadets and said some words of encouragement. "There are four interesting, though hard studying years ahead of you. Thus, I advise you to hit the books and accumulate knowledge from the very beginning. I’m glad that the traditional swear-in ceremony of the Suvorov cadets on September 1, the Day of Knowledge, coincides with the period when the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival is carried out, with some of the first-year students already being part of the event despite their recent admission. It has already become a good tradition. I wish you from the first day to accumulate knowledge, promote the college’s glorious traditions, with honor and pride, bear the name of a Suvorov cadet of the Moscow Military Music School named after Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov".

The Festival is carried out following the Order of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, under the aegis of the Public Council headed by Mr. Alexander Zhukov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Moscow Department of Culture.
