The Russian and foreign participants, as well as the organizers of the Fifteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival, took part in the solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow’s Alexander Garden.
To the elegant melodies composed by the first music director of the Spasskaya Tower Festival, Valery Khalilov, Mr. Sergey Smirnov, Head of the Directorate, and Major General Timofey Mayakin laid the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The ceremony ended with the performance of the Russian Anthem, performed by the Exemplary Military Band of the Guard of Honor.
"Today is our opening day, and it has already become a good tradition that on this day the delegations of foreign countries that take part in the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. All of them treat this ceremony with great respect and pay tribute to the memory of the fallen soldiers", noted Major General Timofey Mayakin after the ceremony.
The Festival is carried out following the Order of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, under the aegis of the Public Council headed by Mr. Alexander Zhukov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Moscow Department of Culture.
