Gears, Comb and Domino Performed by the Honor Guard Unit of the Belarus Armed Forces

Go back

It's the night of August 30 meaning that the fourth show of the Fourteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Tattoo has just unfolded on Moscow’s Red Square. Though, don’t worry as you have till September 5 to join us on the main square of the country to witness this breathtaking spectacle staged by the participants from Russia, Belarus, Greece, Mexico and Qatar.

Today we will focus on our guests from Belarus. The Exemplary Band and Honor Guard Unit of the Armed Forces of the Belarus Republic are well familiar with Moscow's Tattoo, always wowing the audiences with their high-end music skills, flawless arm drills and gorgeous open-air platz concerts.

To the sounds of a jazz march arranged by Andrey Struev, musicians and Honor Guard members step onto the ancient cobblestones of Red Square. This year our guests from Belarus have brought to Moscow a renewed show program with more dynamic music pieces, unique arm drills and regrouping patterns, for example the 'clock face' and 'gears'. While the orchestra is performing its Bulba New medley, 36 well-built members of the Honor Guard Unit are performing audience favorite 'dominoes' arms drill (but this time in slow motion that makes it even more fascinating) and modified 'comb' regrouping (when the servicemen first form a perfect square and then flawlessly transform it in two triangles).

“All according to the Charter of the Belarus Armed Forces”, noted Captain Kirill Korchinskiy, Commander of the Unit, adding that some of the patterns were their own ideas.

The audience also saw the work of four soloists of the honor guard demonstrating their great skills of handling SKS carabines, of twisting and tossing them up.

Bravo exclamations and standing ovations were accompanying our participants from Belarus as they were leaving the square.

The night as usual ended with splending fireworks.
