The preview of the Eleventh International Military Music Festival Spasskaya Tower main show has been held today, August 23, on Moscow’s Red Square. The preview was organized for Media representatives, friends of the Festival and socially vulnerable social groups.
The theme of this year’s Festival is the Moscow Officer’s Ball. It’s been chosen following the results of the on-line voting launched among the Muscovites and found reflection in performances of this year’s participants.
More than fifteen hundreds of musicians and dancers marched along the cobblestone of Red Square representing ten countries, including Russia, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Mexico, Oman, Sri Lanka and Myanmar as well as two international groups being the International Celtic Pipes and Drums and International Irish Dance Team. All in all there are fourteen Russian and twelve foreign groups among this year Festival’s participants. Unfortunately the preview of the Festival’s main show lacked the Prince’s Band of Carabiniers of Monaco that didn’t manage to arrive in Moscow on time. But the band will be present at the grand opening of the Festival. Bands from Italy, Monaco, the Netherlands, Oman, Myanmar and Sri Lanka will take part in the Festival for the first time.
Representatives of the Government of Moscow and foreign embassies’ staffs were also present at the preview of the show. About sixteen hundreds of places were reserved for social and veteran organizations, disabled people, socially vulnerable families, fosters of orphanages and cadet educational institutions.
The Spasskaya Tower Festival will officially be open on August 24 and last till September 2. This year the first ever daytime show will be held within the Spasskaya Tower Festival on September 2, at 12 o’clock. The Festival is being held on Red Square.
