Glasgow and Strathclyde — Pipes and Drums
The Band initially was attached to the Cameronians (Scottish Infantry) regiment, which traditions rises to the years 1708 and 1746, when in Glasgow several troops were selected for the defence of the city during the uprising of Jacobites. Then the band got attached to the Highland Light Infantry, whose parade uniform is worn even today.
Selected from the Universities of Glasgow, Strathclyde and Caledonian, this band attracts many gifted young musicians that are confirmed by the winning of a prestigious trophy among military pipe bands in October 2006.
Teyfort — Pipes and Drums
The start to this band was given by the oldest university in Scotland and Northern Europe — Saint Andrews, founded in 1410. Since 1973, after the inclusion of Sterling University, the name Teyfort was allotted. Now the subdivision includes students of four universities, located on the river Tey and Fort, — apart from the two named, also Dandy and Ebertey. The full composition of the band is more than 32 musicians being the result of a strict selection. The band performs in the uniform, created on the basis of the Hunting Stuart tartan.
Aberdeen — Drums and Pipes
Aberdeen University Pipe Band — Officers Training Corps of the University (20 musicians) was founded in 1924. Its participants are selected from among the students of the Universities of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon, as well as Aberdeen College. The traditions, tartan and band music were formed under the influence of the famous Highlander Gordon Regiment, from where it unusual name originated — in the beginning drums and then pipes. The Band is famous for its high level of performance and participation at the Netherland Military Tattoo, as well as at the Festival in New Scotland (Canada).
