This Saturday, May 18, will welcome the first concert of the 2024 Military Bands in the City Parks season taking place beneath the walls of the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces on the premises of the Russia’s MoD Museum and Cathedral Complex.
Enjoying the long-standing support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Directorate of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival carries on its activities to revive one the most charming traditions of the past, with military bands performing in the city’s parks and gardens, squares and lanes, and other important venues.
Each season’s line-up and program are carefully put together by Major General Timofey Mayakin, Music Director of the Spasskaya Tower Military Tattoo and Head of the Military Band Service of the Russian Armed Forces. The project, in essence, is a series of concerts staged by bands representing Russia’s military and law enforcement agencies, with performances taking place on weekends onsite different outdoor venues for free allowing all the audiences in.
This Saturday, May 18, we are looking forward to meeting you all at 2:30 pm (14:30) and enjoying performances by two bands at once. On the Cathedral Square you will encounter the Central Band of the Russian Navy named after Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, while the Exemplary Military Band of the Honor Guard will perform on the Memory Lane. Besides, all the guests will have a chance to witness the stunning performance of the Suvorov Cadet Band of the Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov Moscow Military Music College, the usual headliner and showstopper of the Spasskaya Tower Festival.
The grand opening of the 2024 Military Bands in the City Parks Season will take place at 3 pm (15:00) and feature Major General Timofey Mayakin, Mr Sergey Smirnov, Head of the Spasskaya Tower Festival Directorate, and Mr Vladislav Pedenko, Director of the Russian Armed Forces Museum and Cathedral Complex.
